DON

So, i went for DON with Faisal and a few others today, so here's my two cents:

To start with, i didn't really expect much from this movie. The only reason i went for it was that Farhan Akhtar, who's previous 2 films i have loved, was directing. Anyways with that in mind, the movie didn't exactly exceed my expectations but didn't fall below it either.

The acting by most of the actors is good. SRK was, according to me, the worst choice for this role. He just didn't have the persona to pull off such a character (i know abeera might kill me for this). The others did a pretty decent job i thought. And oh yeah, Priyanka Chopra is an absolute goddess!

The way the movie is shot and the dialogues are brilliant. The direction was alright, probably Akhtar's worst directed movie till date. Songs were also well shot, but then again, most of them were picked up from the original. The additional twists were good, as they weren't too over the top.

The action was one of the best i have seen in a hindi movie in a long time, so that's an added plus.

Overall, i think it was someone other than SRK essaying the title role, it would have been a much better film, since the whole movie essentially rested on his shoulders.

Well, that's just my opinion. If you differ in any way, I'd like to hear it.

P.S. Priyanka Chopra is an absolute goddess! (did i say that before? well, she deserves it anyways)

And so it ends.

Post Eid and diwali season, back to work. All except me, heh heh. Still in dubai... though I keep wanting to meet up with certain PEOPLE, but certain PEOPLE are too busy doing their leftover holiday assignments! hmph. Whats more important, meeting a friend in town for a few days or studying for some silly old quiz? huh? huh? Sheesh...what happened to priorities, people?

Oh well, so how did everyones eid/diwali/midterms go? i gave mids right before coming to dubai too, went okay. the weirdest thing was, i thought this one paper went like...alright, nothing great...then the other day, in the last class before i came here... the professor, who had very efficiently checked all the papers already... singles me out from the whole class... about 80 people...suddenly in the middle of his sentence, he says, "oh yes, ambreen, your paper was quite good..."...uhhh... i didnt even know he knew my name, but oh well, comments like that are always welcome..

Anyway, i'm off for now... going out for icecream---hmmm mint choc chip or cookies and cream?? decisions, decisions. Cya people... till next time, xox

Journey To The Penthouse

Ok so after my brief and personal visit to Mississuaga, Avi wanted both of us to go once again to the PENTHOUSE (Mrs. Richard's suite)!

So on a nice wet Friday we decided to leave our respective residences and meet at Square One Bust Terminal (Sorry its Bus*)

After we meet up, we had to figure out a way to kill time..

since Mrs Richard wont be free till 6.

We decided to roam around Square One and share stories..

Avi told about his failure to reach the thrid round in the UofT pool tournament.. and I was like "Like I give a damn Mr. hot shot"

We thought about going for a movie earlier but since we both didnt have a clue about the latest movies we decided against it..

Then Avi with his trademark look suggested we check out "FCUK" (yes I spelled it right after all)

And there we were.. and avi once again with his trademark hand gesture took out his wallet and emptied out his cash for a t-shirt with the label "FCUK TORONTO"..

At that moment I was like "You rich fcuk"

We went to the food court where Avi treated himself to some chinese dish while stuck with a shawarma combo /w rice and some weird canadian salad..

We then went to Wal-mart to kill time and we couldn't help but marvel at the items on sale..

Suddenly we get a call from "her" saying that she'll be at the Wal-Mart parking lot soon.. so we go out and well fool around and click some picture..

She finally picks us up in her cool looking "Honda CRV".

I dont feel like going on about what happend later, cause I kinda lost interest now, but just to summarize, she forced us to eat a lot, even after we were stuffed..

Avi kept making rude statements about how I didnt like her food, and so to prove to her that I loved it, I ate more.. (damn you Avi)

We watched TV, talked about the old times, shared a lot of stories..

All in all

It was a great day..

Here are some pictures (some of them are from my previous visit to her place)

Enjoy!

Hey-lo!

Hello Hello my fellow human beings,

It has been a loooooooooong time, has it not? As you can see, this is my new college building located in Academic City, which let alone looking academic, does NOT even look like a city.. our small little block is located in between a desert - literally. There is no absolutely no civilisaton! And the construction is still going on. We have construction workers around our uni all the time, that they've become part of the college crowd.

Otherwise, college is alright. the people were as i expected them to be. Very desi. The professors are very good. My degree is amazing ! It's what ive wanted to do; Biotech RnD. Overall, the experience of college has been a refreshing change from working.
The teaching, AArrrGGGhhh, there was a REASON Mrs.Poonam insisted on explaing Organic Chemistry in the indian method as well, its DIFFERENT. If im surviving, its because of her, they have this totally wierd way of naming compounds :S
Physics, our professor raps. She speaks so fast, that we ask her to repeat the same thing 0ver 20 times which by then, the class gets over.
Math, our professor has written 8 books and boy, is he proud it.
Being seen a lot of familiar people on campus. old mates, family friends, rivals, etc. The best thing about this college is the library..i love it! which reminds me of Mrs. Neelam.. :) and Zubin!

oh yeah, Ramadan Kareem to all of you. This month's schedule is just messed up, been having so many 'insane nights'. I rarely come online, so hence not been in touch with any body.

You guys keep posting in,
shall talk to you later,

Taaaa
